Observations from Pack’s FSU contest

By clark on October 6th, 2007

Defense giving up yards, not points posted 4:59 p.m. State’s defense has allowed Florida State to drive across the 50-yard line four times, but so far the Seminoles have come away with a mere 10 points in the first half. Some of the credit belongs to N.C. State’s defense for making stops, but a lot of the credit belongs to FSU kicker Gary Cismesia for missing two field goals, one of them a 23-yard attempt. The Pack needs to take advantage by getting on the board again before the half so it can have the momentum and the ball at the start of the second half. posted 4 p.m. N.C. State’s offense has a clear gameplan today: get the running backs involved. Every play except the final two-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Evans to John Dunlap included Andre Brown or Jamelle Eugene touching the ball. The idea seems to be to keep the pressure off Evans as he starts for the first time since the season opener. Short passes and plenty of handoffs appear to be in store for the offense, but Evans will still have to hit some receivers downfield so Florida State isn’t able to load up the box and shut down the run.
